NoDa Adventure

With three off-days on my plate in the city of Charlotte, North Carolina, I set out to find some interesting textures to photograph and enjoy. This was not an easy task up front. For, you see, Charlotte–on the surface–is one of those places that has two things to offer: A squeaky-clean, modern downtown, surrounded by cookie-cutter suburban sprawl. Unless you’re into the glinting, sharp lines of a skyscraper, or the repetitious yellow motif that is parking lot lines at the Wal-Mart, you might be disappointed at the outward lack of parts of town with “character”. Driver Kevin Ward was killed when Stewart’s car hit the young driver while confronting Stewart on the track.

Here’s a contradictory thought that I’d like you to ponder for a few moments: “As a photographer, I thrive on lack of direction.” On the surface, this phrase doesn’t make much sense. After all, how can once excel at anything without direction? How can one come away with anything worthwhile without a plan?
