Glad you got to Rio safe. What surprised you re how people live and die is not much surprise to many of us. There is much poverty and hardship but you will also find people (usually the poor in society) who are the most generous. Brasil is beautiful, the people are beautiful, life can be beautiful but it can also be very harsh. Immerse yourself and enjoy where you can. I’m sure you will have been briefed on keeping safe.
